About Reflexology #01 What is Reflexology?

Reflexology is an ancient therapy which has been used for many thousands of years. It is a therapy that believes that the whole of the body is reflected in the feet and works on nerve and energy pathways. Reflexology promotes deep relaxation, stimulates the circulation, eliminates toxins and has an overall balancing effect on the body. Reflexology treats the whole person not just the symptoms of the disease.

What conditions can Reflexology treat?

You don't have to be ill to benefit from reflexology as it works to promote continued health, to boost the immune system and generally give a sense of well-being.

There may, however, be times when our bodies do need extra help to overcome certain imbalances and reflexology can then help with such conditions as

Back and neck problems
Balance
Arthritis
Anxiety and Stress
Prostate conditions
Depression
Fertility
Headaches and Migraines
Plantar Faciiatis
Digestive disorders
Insomnia

and so many, many more.

Reflexology can be carried out alongside most medicines prescibed by your GP and a full medical history will be taken at your first consultation to ensure the right appraoch is taken to your particular condition.

How does it work?

The reflexologist uses a controlled pressure on the feet (and sometimes on the hands) and works on points called reflex points. Reflexology is based on the idea that all areas of the body are reflected on the feet and the reflexologist's trained hands work to address any imbalances to relieve discomfort and pain to these specific areas. Reflexology induces deep relaxation and healing throughout the body (having an effect on the circulatory and nervous system) restoring balance and returning the body back to it's normal balance.

Who can benefit from Reflexology?

Reflexology is suitable for adults. children, infants and the elderly.
